31 Days to Eating Better

I was talking to one of my best friends yesterday about how hard it is to eat well all while staying in budget. Not only is it difficult with a small budget, but the time it takes to figure out what to cook and what you need to buy in the store! Then there’s making sure you find and make recipes that everyone will enjoy. Anyone else need to cook for a picky eater and then cook around food allergies?

So, we continued our conversation and she mentioned the Whole 30 diet and how she and her husband were going to give it a shot for December. I’ve heard of this plan before, and even thought about it, but my husband was never quite on board. Give up potato chips??? How dare I even suggest it! But now that his friend is doing it, it’s not so scary, so here we go!

Whole 30, in my opinion, is really great. With it, you strip down your food of all the chemicals and additives so prevalent in our modern diets. However, you can still eat meat, reasonable amounts of fat, and potatoes! That last one makes me very happy, there’s no way I can give up my potatoes. I’m used to no gluten, but don’t take my potatoes.

As I was exploring their website, I came across their meal planner program.* If you know me, you’ll know that I hate spending money when I don’t need to. However, I am getting to the point where I don’t have much time anymore. When I can find something that will save me a considerable amount of time and energy, I’m more inclined to look into it.

Guys, let me tell you…this planner is absolutely amazing. It is so easy to customize to your family’s needs! You can choose how many meals you plan on cooking, how many servings you need each recipe to be. Have a food allergy? Can’t stand cauliflower? No problem, you can enter that in too and you won’t have to worry about it. It doesn’t stop there either. You know how when you meal plan and spend a ton of time looking up recipes on Pinterest to only then have to write down all the ingredients you need then total up how much you need….yeah, super time consuming. This meal planner does all that for you. And you can check off the items you already have.

I am so looking forward to starting this diet and posting about the different recipes we try!
